Request to be a Speaker

Apply to be an ALA Speaker (or Recommend Someone)
The ALA exists to bring together proven, accomplished leaders, with students who will soon start their own life journey, to give them the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.  In essence, what do you wish you knew when you were 19?

Speakers should be able to relate their first-hand, personal experiences dealing with leadership, ethics and management in a way that provides lessons for life to a younger generation.  A strong track record of personal and professional success is expected.  Next, they must offer it in a format that is simple, direct, engaging and interesting to college-aged men on Spring Break in Cabo.  Lastly, they must provide clear, practical steps for these men to adopt and implement these lessons now, so as to start them on the road to success.

In addition to such information and an ability to deliver it, is an expectation that speakers will spend a significant amount of time outside the classroom, talking one-on-one and in small groups with participants.  So many students today do not have male mentors and role models, and the time spent listening, understanding, and counseling can be the most valuable time of the week to these men.

Finally, we expect that speakers also will be donors to the ALA.  We appreciate the time and expense you make to be with us, but a continuing commitment to ALA is as important as the knowledge you have to share – and it insures we can keep the program strong, so you can return again!

If you think you fit the model and are up to the challenge, or if you know someone whom you’d like to recommend, e-mail ALA at: tcp@americanla.org or contact us at (877) 257-1458 and we’ll send you, or your recommended, an application and our Speaker Guide.

Note: The ALA does not pay speaker fees, honorariums, or even travel expenses. All speakers and facilitators attend at their own expense to participate in the program.
