Each session will be slightly different, according to the faculty who can be with us, though core speakers are consistent every week. Included in attendee registration fees are six hotel nights in a shared suite, all-you-can-eat buffet meals, round-trip airport shuttle, shuttle buses downtown most evenings, and all program materials. The value of that package is over $550 per student, per week – many times the registration fee.
While many other leadership programs occupy you dawn to dusk, we think time outside the classroom can be very important to your experience. Talking with our presenters and sharing ideas with other attendees, helps you determine what content will help you most when you return home. Our weekly schedule planned for March sessions is as follows (our January session will run Monday through Sunday):
Sunday (Arrival day):
8 AM-10 PM Arrivals & Check-ins
5:30 PM Student Orientation
6:30 PM Dinner with Faculty
7:30 PM Kick-off Session
9 PM Reception/Bonfire with Faculty
Monday through Friday:
8:45-9:45 AM Breakfast
10:00 – 12:30 PM Presentations (class time)
12:30 – 1:30 PM Lunch
6:30 PM Dinner
After Lunch (1:30-3 PM)
Monday and Friday: Baja Breakouts – Meet some of our most accomplished guests at informal discussions outside the classroom. These optional, casual sessions provide a great opportunity to ask questions about their life, work and college experiences.
Tuesday: We’re inviting a select list of very high profile guests to join us for a video interview and Q&A session. The theme is leadership, citizenship, patriotism and service, and we’ll draw from those in politics and charitable and public service, and those who have achieved incredible goals.
Wednesday: Personal development – Attendees will work to identify their core values and create goals and objectives for their future. We’ll provide the materials and guidance, you’ll provide honest evaluation and serious thought about your goals for life.
Thursday: Up Close and Personal with ALA Founder Jerry Nelson – His “Winners & Losers” presentation is outstanding, but it barely touches upon how amazing a guy he is. We’ll be asking him about his life, how he got his start in business, his successes and failures, and what advice he thinks is most important for success.
Afternoons and evenings may offer optional breakout or discussion sessions on any number of topics. These are announced each day, during the classroom sessions, for those who have interest. Otherwise, bus transport into town is provided by the hotel Monday through Thursday evenings from 9:30 PM to 1 AM, and Friday evening 9:30 to 2 AM.
Saturday (Departure day):
8 AM – 11 AM Brunch served continuously as students depart for flights home.
