For March, we have space in each session, though our March 11-18 is the busiest and has the fewest seats left. Check HERE to see if your campus has reserved space. If not, get on the ball – the deadline to reserve space, purchase tickets and complete online registration is Dec. 15. As always, contact the ALA directly for more information.

Keep in mind, airfares change daily (if not hourly), based on any number of factors, but we did see a few reduced prices this month from some cities. ALA Cabo attendees should watch fares carefully and purchase as far in advance as possible.

Those interested to attend our 2012 Cabo programs need to get reservations in soon. Already our January 2-8 session and March 11-17 session have over half the available seats reserved, with dozens of campuses still not represented. With only a few weeks until the November 15 deadline for January registrations, campuses should act quickly to reserve space. The deadline for March session registration is December 15, but earlier reservations are most likely to get space.

Contact the ALA now to get reservations set for your campus, or visit our website HERE for information on the reservation and registration process.

ALA’s January session is taking reservations now and has room for larger campus groups. Our January session is open to seniors and has space now for groups of 15 or more – to those who get reservations in early.

Or, consider sending students to both sessions. Many campuses sent 10-15 men to our January session, then a different group of 8-12 to a March session. The result is more students returning to campus with skills and enthusiasm to lead. Get more information and download a reservations form HERE.

The deadline for online registration for our January session is Nov. 15. That means reservation requests should be submitted by the end of October, to give men time to get tickets and register by the deadline. Contact the ALA directly for more information.

Our travel contacts are telling us this will be a high demand season for Los Cabos, so we’ve put together some information, including average airfares from major cities, to assist attendees in planning their trips.

Airlines have reduced the number of seats flying in each week (fewer flights and smaller planes), at the same time more people are choosing Cabo as a safe resort location in Mexico (rather than going to Cancun or Acapulco, etc.). That means more demand for fewer seats – so much less likely that you’ll see any special sale prices.

Get more information at our Travel Info webpage HERE. We encourage all attendees to secure and purchase tickets as early as possible. The deadlines for purchasing tickets and completing our online registration are Nov. 15 for our January session and Dec. 15 for our March sessions. Don’t wait too long, or flights at reasonable rates will be sold out.

Current District VI Archon Tim Suwandhaputra attended the ALA’s Cabo Leadership Experience in 2011 and, while there, made a connection with speaker Brad Heimann, Texas. The result was a summer internship in China – just the kind of bonus the Cabo program provides to students who are eager and prepared for opportunity. Tim describes how it came about…

“Brad’s lecture at ALA regarding his experiences as CFO and CEO of a multimillion dollar international corporation included the relationship his Dallas headquarters maintains with its Chinese counterparts. As the lecture ended, I was left with a sense of curiosity that led me to approach Brad and his wife at dinner later that night. We spoke in detail about his experiences and corporation, Craftmade International.

“From there, contact information was exchanged and conversation/advice continued through email, after I returned home from ALA. As the months passed, I began to express interest in obtaining an internship abroad. Brad put me in touch with his office in China, and after a few weeks of exchanging emails an opportunity was offered. I eagerly accepted!

“My time in China was eye-opening, to say the least. During the internship I was able to receive in-depth first hand experience in product development, quality assurance, manufacturing, customs processing, financial calculation, and executive decision making for Craftmade International and it’s subsidiaries. I traveled all through Southern China, visited countless factories and participated in meetings with employees, factory management and executives.

“Not only was the internship educational in the corporate sense, but also as a cultural experience. Living in China gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in a country, and with a people, that many Americans only see on the news or read about. With the time spent in-country, I was able to develop a cultural understanding and pick up on mannerisms such as how to properly hand a business card, or the proper ritual on drinking tea or alcohol with Chinese businessmen.

“The internship abroad equipped me with knowledge that no amount of schooling or conversation could have taught me. I returned to the United States with a new found understanding, and an even larger appreciation, for the opportunities provided by attending the ALA programs.”

Reservations are being accepted now for our 2012 Season in Los Cabos. Get more information at our website HERE and start planning your own future.
